This is a good choice for computer novices who only need simple time and application control. However, if you need advanced Microsoft Windows restrictions, see KidsWatch Time Control or WatchDog.

Feature Set:  

iNet Protector easily schedules time limits, application restrictions and Internet usage.

Scheduling/setting time limits each day or week is simple—just click on the box corresponding to the times. Specific times can be blocked or you can set a per session limit.

You can also specifically list the services, programs or games you do not want to allow your kids or employees to access. If you do not want a 100% block, you can add specific website addresses or IP addresses to a do not block list.

iNet Protector allows you to block changes to the system clock, log events, disable the Internet on startup, display time remaining warning messages and ask for a password when exiting iNet Protector.

Ease of Use:  

iNet Protector has an easy to use interface and computer novices should find iNet Protector one of the easier programs to navigate. Since there are few features to manage, such as Microsoft Windows restrictions, the program is simple and uncomplicated.

Ease of Installation/Setup:  

We had no problems installing and setting up the program.

Technical Support/Help:  

Even though iNet Protector does not provide telephone support, we still gave them our best rating in this area because of the quick and knowledgeable response they gave us regarding a question we had about their program.

Time Control Effectiveness:  

We gave a less than perfect score in this area because iNet Protector allowed us to access the Internet a couple times during the periods that we had blocked.

Summary:  

iNet Protector is an easy to use and low priced option for parental time control software. We liked the fact that it has the ability to block certain Internet features, such as web browsing, while allowing useful tools such as email.

However, we did encounter a few experiences in which we gained Internet access when it was scheduled to be blocked and if you need advanced Microsoft Windows restrictions you may want to consider one of our top two picks.
